Trip Introduction

This tours covers famous places Potala Durbar and Norbulinka Monastery, the great Drepung Monastery with Everest Base Camp and Mountain Kailash, Kailash Manasarovar is probably the most significant of all pilgrimages and is considered by many as the highest point of their life’s experience. Considered the spiritual center of the Universe by five religions – Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Bon - sacred Mount Kailash and ethereal Lake Manasarovar are the subjects of innumerable myths and legends.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Lhasa arrival (3650m)
Fly to Gongkar Airport. Transfer to Hotel in Lhasa.

Day 02: Lhasa
Visit Potala palace, Jokhang temple & Barkhor Bazar.

Day 03: Lhasa
Visit Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.

Day 04: Lhasa - Shigatse (3900m) via Gyantse
Drive to Shigatse via Yamdrok Lake and Gyantse.

Day 05: Shigatse - Everest Base camp (5200m)
Visit Tashilunpo Monastery and leave for Everest Base Camp

Day 06: Everest Base Camp - Saga
Before leaving Everest Base Cap, enjoy the sunrise of Everest Peak.

Day 07: Saga - Darchen via Lake Manasarovar
Pass by the holy Lake Manasarovar and finally arrive at the southern foot of Mt. Kailash

Day 08: Darchen - Drirapuk (driving 7km, Trek 13km)
Trek and visit Drirapuk Monastery

Day 09: Drirapuk - Dzutrpuk (Trek 18km)
Trek over  Dromala pass (5630m), the highest pass of the Kora.

Day 10: Dzutripuk - Darchen (Trek 7km, driving 5km).
Third day of Kora. Trek will end around in noon.

Day 11: Darchen - Saga
Drive to Saga via Manasarovar Lake.

Day 12: Saga -  Sakya
Drive to Sakya.

Day 13 Sakya to Shigatse
visit ancient Sakya town with Sakya monastery and then drive to Shigatse,

Day 14: Shigatse - Lhasa
Drive back to Lhasa via Yalong Valley.

Day 15: Departure
Free till departure. Transfer to airport, fly to onward destination.

Day 01: Arrive in Lhasa
Fly to Lhasa airport and transfer to Lhasa (95 km - It takes approx. 2 hours to Lhasa through the Yerlung Tsangpo and the Lhasa Kyichu River).

Day 02: Lhasa Tour
After breakfast, visit Potala palace, the seat of both religion and politics in Tibet. It was built in the 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo and later renovated by the 5th Dalailama in the 17th century.  Afternoon visit Jokhang Temple and Barkhor market, this is the holiest shrine in Tibet and houses of golden statue of the Shakyamuni Buddha which was brought to Tibet by the Chinese princess Wenchen.

Day 03: Lhasa Tour
After breakfast, visit Drepung monastery, which is the largest Monastery of the Gelugpa sect in Lhasa, which was built in 1416 by Jamyang chojie a disciple of Tsongkhapa. Afternoon visit Sera monastery located in north of Lhasa city, It was built in 1419 by Jamchen Choeji, a disciple of Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelugpa sect. Sera monastery is one of the three major monasteries of yellow sect in Tibet.

Day 04: Lhasa- Shigatse via Gyantse 360km
In the morning, drive from Lhasa to Shigatse .On the way, drive over the Gampala pass (4790 m), and you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok lake (4400m) .The Lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and in the distance you can have spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, (7191m) the highest mountain near Lhasa.

Later, we will pass and enjoy the Korola Glacier on the roadside; At Manak Dam Lake, you can hang pray flag at Simila Mountain Pass; and then, we will arrive in Gyantse, historically Tibet's third largest city (after Lhasa and Shigatse).In Gyantse, we will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum and enjoy the Far view of Gyangtse Fortress.

After one and a half drive, we arrive in Shigatse, which is the second largest city in Tibet. In Shigatse, we may visit traditional Barley Mill and view the landscape of Barley Field (in summer).

Day 05: Shigatse (3900m) - Everest Base Camp (5200)
In the morning, we will visit the home of Panchan Lama - Tashilunpo Monastery. Then, we’ll leave Shigatse after getting your Alien’s travel permit, and then drive to Lhatse, it is a small town where you can have lunch.

After that, we will pass Tsola Pass(4600M), and Gyatsola Pass(5248M). Shortly after we enter Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve, tourists can enjoy the panorama of Himalaya at Gawula Pass (5198m).Then we drive along the New zigzag road to Everest Base Camp(5200m). You can get closer to gazt at the Mt. Everest peak. The sunset of golden Everest peak if time and weather permits at the lodging area.

Day 06: Everest Base Camp - Saga
Before leaving Everest Base Camp, enjoy the sunrise of Everest Peak at lodging area if weather permits; then As we head to saga, you can view of the worlds’14th highest peak Mt.Shishapangma (8012m), and  Turquoise Lake Peiku tso(4590m). If you are lucky enough, you are very likely to see wild animals like wild donkey, wild antelope etc.

Day 07: Saga to Darchen, via Lake Manasarovar
On the way to Darchen, you will have a chance to appreciate the stunning view of the Saga valley between Gangdise Range and Himayala Range. Meanwhile, the beautiful grassland and local's villages can also be seen. As we cross the Mayomla Pass(5112M), you can enjoy the spectacular vista of Mt. Naimonanyi (7694M).  Then we are supposed to pass by the holy Lake Manasarover and finally arrive at the southern foot of Mt.Kailash, the most holy mountain in Tibet.

Day 08: Darchen - Drirapuk (driving 7km, Trek 13km)
In the morning, we are supposed to take eco-bus from Darchen to Sarshung valley. Then we will meet Yaks and porters at Sarshung village. (the cost of hiring yaks, horses, and porters are not included in the package) After that, we can begain the trek (Around 13km) from Sarshung to Drirapuk Monastery along the Lachu valley and rivers. You can enjoy the both west and north face of mountain Kailash today. Finally, we will visit Drirapuk Monastery.

Day 09: Drirapuk - Dzutrpuk (Trek 18km)
Today, we will trek over  Dromala pass(5630m), the highest pass of the Kora. On the way you can have a rest in a teahouse. All the way, you can see locals Tibetans prostrating in the Kora path and beautiful Kadoe Lake when walk downhill. We may also visit Zutulpuk Monastery.

Day 10: Dzutripuk - Darchen (Trek 7km, driving 5km).
On the third day of Kora. You will trek 7km to Zongto where you can take bus to Darchen. Along the Kora, you can see piles of Mani Stones. We will end the Trek around noon, rest in the lodging place.

(Optional): Taking bath in Lake Manasarovar and enjoy hot spring

Day 11: Darchen - Saga
Drive from Darchen to Saga via Lake Manasorovar.

Day 13: Sakya - Shigatse
In the morning, we will visit ancient Sakya town and you can tour Sakya monastery with amazing murals and huge collection of scriptures and statues. Then we are about to drive from Sakya to Shigatse.

Day 14: Shigatse (3900m) to Lhasa (3650m)
Today, we will drive back to Lhasa by following Yalong Valley. You can stand on the viewing platform and view the vast Yalong River bed. Finally the guide will transfer you back to your hotels in Lhasa.

Day 15: Departure from Lhasa
Departure from Lhasa airport and fly to your next destination.

    • Personal expenses, like laundry, phone call, snacks, soft drinks (please do the best to avoid the alcoholic beverages during your Tibet trip), optional tour activities, etc.
    • If extra help like Yaks, horses and porters is necessary for some clients, the local guide will help to arrange but clients have to decide the day before the trekking.
